E S S E N T I A L C L A S S I C S

Op shops. What gives! The down lighting, the crammed racks, silky yardage print dresses falling off hangers, the weird smell and the fact that if you buy something you have to carry a plastic bag around with you for the rest of the day. (NOTE: plastic bags are not a good accessory on any occasion. Except maybe the supermarket) and then there’s ALWAYS "that girl" You know- the one with the poorly bleached crop and jeans so high waisted she may as well be nude. She's the best friend of the red haired girl who's wearing an oversized flannel and stockings skewered with holes. Oh and one of those hats, don’t forget the hat! Please, it makes the outfit. In any other situation I would not find these two girls irritating. But why are they ALWAYS standing right where you want to look? Honestly. For the most part it’s just too bloody hard. That is until, you find something amazing. Something you know you wouldn't find unless you made it yourself. Yesterday I found this unbelievable off white, washed silk shirt. Seven dollars later and I now take back every unsavory thing I've ever said about op shopping. Because It's fucking great.

WHITER THAN WHITE, HOLIER THAN NOW

  10. I love the stories you can make up in your head about the clothes you buy in op-shops..
I like to tell myself that this one belonged to a totally hip, and hot-to-trot beau of the 70's who rocked out in clubs and sweated till his mullet were wet enough to ring out.
He teamed this beautiful silk ensemble with acid wash semi high - up the crotch - jeans.
You can just picture it now can't you? And his name was Kevin.

  14. amazing, reminds me off the white shirt erin wore all those years ago with the denim shorts before the world was crazily obsessed with her hehe. I went to Glebe markets on the w.e and had a similar exeperience to yours,i found an amazing vintage leather jacket , its one ive been searching for for years and could never find anything like it brand new or vintage!

  48. Wow! You look so good- I think your blog style is actually really original, I am sick of seeing pics of Alexa Chung and Dree Hemmingway ripped of TFS and re-posted on blogs.

Well of course I don't. How could I? It's black and white fool. Regardless thanks for your comment. Just wish it didn't reek of spinelessness. Anonymous hate mail? second only to anonymous anthrax. Eek the worst kind of lame!

  50. Oh god! I can't believe I'm the last to know!!! Manners are out and hate mail is in? Now tell me "Alexis" because I know nobody with that name- Is it only cool to do it on matters you know absoloutly nothing about (IE: what I look like. Are you hiding in my garden with binoculars? creepy) or would I be just as cool as you to do it to any random blogger you've found on the internet? Forgive me but I ain't here to impress anyone and certainly am not asking you to read this. SO perhaps time to do something useful like find a new hobby as this one makes you look like a dick.

  59. hating motherfuckers..
i have met this LOVELY lady and she is really just that, lovely! modest, down to earth, sweet and beautiful! she looks exactly the same in reality as these photos.. minus black and white and makeup, because she is naturally flawless and really doesn't need it. jelousy really is the most unattractive trait. maybe you should find something better to do with your time then insult people. at least, if you must say hateful things to make yourself feel better (cliche but oh so true.)... go extend your vocabulary, make up some witty, smart calls to use. however, it doesnt really matter. do you honestly think alex gives a fuck what you have to say... look at her!
